I’m Laura Kaupang (that’s where LAU-KAU comes from!), an illustrator and handletterer with a passion for creating fun + inspiring products for kids and the young at heart.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to design for a lot of great brands such as Best Buy, Caribou Coffee, Life Time Fitness, PaperSource, Target, Ulta Beauty, Wal-Mart, and more. A turning point in my career was during my years at Duffy, where I worked with some of the most talented and passionate people in the industry. This inspired me to really dig deep and find what makes me come alive — I kept coming back to illustration and handlettering, which just felt like what I was created to do.

One sunny morning in June 2019, I took my son to a baby story hour at our local library. After seeing a photo that my sister snapped of him sitting in my lap with the biggest smile on his face, I instantly knew that I was supposed to leave my job and chase after the dream that had been in my heart for many years. I was not only longing for creative freedom, but also the opportunity to create space for special moments like that outing at the library with my then five-month old son.

My husband, Andy and I had a lot of conversations about my vision and the logistics before diving in with both feet when I was eight months pregnant with our daughter. Ever since I met Andy in 2008, I’d been telling him that I just wanted to make cute stickers and wrapping paper — little everyday items that bring joy to those that use them.

I’m a mom of two, fitness + nutrition fanatic, and life enthusiast. As a strong Enneagram 8w7, I’m enthusiastic, passionate, and driven about everything I set out to do — which is how my paper goods shop came to be!

Creating these products makes my heart so happy and I am so thankful for the opportunity to do something that I love each day.
